Question: What are some good hobbies or crafts for a 16 year old girl?

I'm tired of watching tv and am begging for some activities. I am not a super girly girl either.

I learned how to use a sewing machine when I was 15 and I am so happy that I did. Also try some other artistic hobbies, paint, write, take pictures, carve wood. Keep trying new things until you find something you really like.

There is also making jewelry [many different ways - so they don't have to be girly], leather carving [wallets, belts, clock faces, purses, and even wall pictures], painting [I paint stained glass designs on regular artist paper by tracing the designs and using model paint as I like the metallic look], knitting and crocheting, and many others. I think a trip to your local library and checking out their craft section might help you find some crafts that interest you. Pick out a few that look interesting and really try them out. If they don't work or you get bored with them, you can go on to something else. I am female and have done the crafts I have suggested. I'm not girly either, more tom-boy like.

Here are some tips for hobbies and crafts: 1- Buy some puzzle books. 2- Get into making jewelry. Pick up some magazines or books dedicated to jewelry making. i.e; BeadStyle Magazine and Teach Yourself Visually Jewelry Making and Beading. 3- Get into knitting. Knitting is a fun and relaxing way to show your creativity and maybe even sell them for profit. A good book is Teach Yourself Visually Knitting. 4- You can also make buttons. badgeaminit.com/ This website has a basic button maker for pretty cheap to make some cute little buttons. 5- You can draw or paint. 6- Maybe even learn a new language. Your possibilities to become more creative and entertained are endless. You can even start a little business with these hobbies or crafts. I really recommend trying everything that is suggested to you. I wish you luck and I hope this helped. x

Try scrapbooking! Being that your 16 you have so much going on in your life that you will want to remember. Take photos of all your favorite things, friends, place, etc and get a scrapbooking kit and make a permanent memory! Our local craft store here sells paper and embellishments with our high school's name on it and our mascot and plenty of things in school colors.

Try learning counted cross stitch it is easy to learn and not very expensive. You can make small items for gifts such as key rings, fridge magnets, bookmarks or cards. There are larger projects also. You could try making greetings cards with 3D Decoupage that is simple and inexpensive,

Learn to cook. It's a lot of fun. It's been a hobby of mine since I was 10 years old. ;)
